IN THE CLASSROOM
As you read in this blog’s lead-in, 8th grade worked very hard on their developing their first narrative piece of the year! This week, 7th grade will be publishing their final drafts of their first narrative. 6th grade has started their narrative piece, taking their quick writes we completed last week and developing their favorite quick write into a draft.

In addition, all classes will be starting a Halloween project for writing. 8th will be using photographs to create spooky snapshot writings, focusing on the use of sensory details to put a reader into a scene. 7th grade will be working on some Halloween poetry using a blackout poetry strategy. 6th grade will be burying some dead (tired and boring words) so we can improve our writing with more descriptive language.

6th Grade is continuing to explore the story of creation in Religion; a test is scheduled for next Thursday. In History, we have started our third chapter, focusing on the Fertile Crescent and the various civilizations that grew out of this region. Last week, we explored the civilization of Sumer; this week, we’ll be focusing on the Akkad, Babylon, and Phoenicia. (And, as you can see, we’ve been working on our note-taking skills.)
