A FEW NOTES FROM MS. C
Congratulations to all our first quarter awards! You should be so proud of your hard work and dedication!
It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s Super Family Literacy Night! St. Vincent School is proud to announce our first ever family literacy night on Wednesday, November 6, from 5:45-7:30 p.m. in the St. Vincent Parish Hall. This family literacy night will be an evening of fun activities to encourage literacy in our community. The reason for this is simple: We want to empower parents to promote literacy at home, as well as help parents learn teaching strategies to help their children succeed in school. This year’s event will be held in conjunction with our fall Scholastic book fair and will feature a community read aloud. We hope you’ll join us for a fun, free evening of games, crafts, snacks, and more!
Scholastic Book Fair: Our first Scholastic Book Fair of this school term is coming up on Wednesday, November 6 in conjunction with the Super Family Literacy Night. We need your help to make it a success for our students and for St. Vincent School! Volunteers are needed to set-up the Book Fair in the Parish Hall on Tuesday, November 5 between 3:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. We also need volunteers to work during the Book Fair (8 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.) and during Super Family Literacy Night (5:45-7:30 p.m.) on Wednesday, November 6. Any amount of time you are able to spend helping would be most appreciated! This is also a fun way to earn service hours and meet your fellow SVS parents! If you are able to volunteer, please email Michelle Wakefield at mlw@dmwakelaw.com. Thank you and see you at the awesome Scholastic Book Fair!
School will be closed next Monday, November 11 in observance of Veterans’ Day. This year, in honor of Veterans’ Day, SVS will participate in GI Go Jeans for Troops day. On Friday, November 8, students may donate $1 to wear jeans with their regular school polo. Thanks to the millions of supporters of this cause throughout the United States, the GI Go Fund has been able to provide tens of thousands of dollars in financial assistance to veteran families in need, helping veterans find employment and go back to school. For more information, visit the Gi Go Fund website a https://gigo.org/.
