Hello, Viking middle school parents!
A few distance learning ELA changes moving forward:
- I will continue to assign a weekly writing assignment and bell ringers. These are assigned Monday morning and due by 8 a.m. on Saturday. I do provide daily pacing suggestions to help students work through the assignment via chunking it into smaller tasks rather than attempting to complete in one sitting (I see that some students are still completing all their work on Friday).
- I made the decision to reduce the grammar lessons completed during the week as I have heard of some students struggling to balance work. As such, I will only assign one new grammar lesson a week. It will be assigned on Tuesday morning and will be due 8 a.m. Thursday morning.
- For students who need a little extra practice or need something extra to do during the week, I will also be assigning an optional, extra credit grammar review assignment – usually a sort or a color sheet. This will be posted on Tuesdays and due by Saturday morning. Again, these will review concepts we have already studied and are optional.
We appreciate your continued support at home. Thank you for your feedback and patience as we continue to modify our distance learning while upholding our SLEs and high academic standards.
